Evolved

i've been fighting this feeling for a while

the feeling of knowing i have to leave

even though our story came together so beautifully

the universe led me into your arms

and for a brief moment you held me, helped me, saved me

but perhaps that's all our story was

a story of beautiful connection and growth

meant to teach us lessons

and help us become the people we are today

perhaps the timing of meeting you

was meant to serve a purpose in my story

and i'll always love you for that

though i can appreciate the beautiful moments we had

i must also acknowledge the ways we fell apart

though we didn't last

though the memories light me up and haunt my past

you'll always hold a small piece of my heart

thank you for showing me the strength i didn't know i had
